Presentient Probes

...On the Venus ingress into Pisces

Venus is on the verge of slipping off past the waves on her favored abalone. We learn that she is exalted in Pisces, and then get quickly tangled in the nets of good and evil. I feel it’s important to first have a clear image of what she is like here before we make any value judgments.

If Venus helps us in connecting to what we find beautiful and valuable in our lives, then when she is in Pisces, the world really is the oyster. Exalted in our fantasies, exalted in our longing, and, of course, exalted in our dreaming. But there is a shadow here too, and it is tinted rose. Too often we sail off chasing after some vision we had, only to be left empty-handed. The specter of disillusionment is strong here. It’s also an aquatic maze of deep feeling: what is mine? what is yours? what is what? In the first decan of Pisces, we are purely feeling our way through. There are no clear signs. All is muddled. All is shimmering. All is well, until…

Venus is also in the process of waving farewell to the morning sky. Still visible, but not for long. Her vacation to the other side of the Sun for the second cazimi of the cycle is fast approaching. It’s an episode where our connections are tested. If the rope to the anchor is rotten, it very well might snap. To stay tethered, it may be wise to remain close to the shore. It’s not until she reappears in the evening sky that the themes and connections made during this Leo cycle show their true faces. It will happen this Summer. It gives us something else to look forward to.

And so, since she headed for the underworld with Pisces as a precursor, we must not lose sight of the horizon. It’s not hard to be tricked here or to lose focus. It’s a time to be guided by our heart’s proboscis. It speaks perfect intuition and never makes logical sense, yet if we follow it, it doesn’t seem to let us often down. It’s a time to pay close attention to our presentient moments: waking before the alarm, being in the right place at that right time, and seeing how dreams probe into our waking life.

We welcome Venus back to her exaltation and pray it’s the mermaid tail she needs to traverse all those tricky rivers in the underneath.
