“Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping
Than you can understand.”
-William Butler Yeats (from The Stolen Child)
There is much in this world we would do nearly anything to know more about. With disclosure being dangled like a carrot in front of us for years and the click-away ease of falling down any conspiracy hole we wish, it all feeds that deeper hunger in us to know more. It’s programmed in our DNA. The mysteries keep it alive and life remains interesting. Without them, what’s really on offer except for box stores, fast foods, and the promise of some kind of salvation by politicians, influencers, and megachurch scoundrels? We know there is more to this life, and we are correct in thinking so.
Recently, Mercury has moved into Scorpio. Squaring Pluto on his way in, receiving a proper initiation into his way of seeing while also heading into the evening sky as well. It’s in this part of his cycle where the Idea that may have claimed us back in August has effectively changed our minds and brought online new neuropathways which allow us to contextualize our experience with more bandwidth (catch up on the cycle HERE).
In early Scorpio, we encounter an appetite so intense, that nothing can stop it along its multidimensional path towards truth. Emotionally, it can be ruthless; mentally, it’s a thorough audit of the “facts;” and spiritually, it remains open because everything has already been taken away. The first decan of Scorpio is populated with images of severed heads, red women, and bones for chewing. It’s a brutal setup for the final leg of the biggest election of the year. The truth will be told.
Being that Venus has been in Scorpio for some time and the two rulers (Pluto & Mars) are beginning to face off on opposite sides of the sky (Leo/Aquarius), it’s not a leap to conclude we have entered a phase of revealing. On all levels, inside and out, it’s just important to stand open and willing to entertain what comes our way. The two are trying to rip the falsities and lies right off our skins. Shadow work at its finest.
My recommendation is to think back to both August of 23’ and this year; the reason being: that it’s when both the Venus and Mercury cycles began in Leo. With this fixed flame as our incubator, we may be able to spot themes from then till now. Do the exercise for yourself and do it for the world. If it’s hard to recollect, remember that when Venus was retrograde in Leo in 23’, it was when the Maui fires had the world holding their hearts and scratching their heads; now, with her in Scorpio as an evening star, nearing the end of her cycle, the hand on the heart and head once again, but in regards to Appalachia (think: FEMA; government response; their use of misinformation etc). As an example…
It’s hard to convert just how important thinking cyclically is when studying astrology. Isolated aspects or transits without the cycle in mind are like trying to understand the fae without knowing where they are from, aliens with no knowledge of their planet of origin, or a candidate without a clear backstory. There’s an origin point to all things, and for Mercury and Venus who are now in Scorpio as evening stars, it was Leo. That’s your koan for the week. Sit with it. Be frustrated by it. Learn from it.
enjoy

to work with me:
...to adventure deeper into kosmos, mythos, and psyche
to learn Astrology:
....to support the creation of my writings/podcasts and be showered with gifts:
Not only do I continue to appreciate the quality of your writing (and the human-created artwork!), I love how you are a part of my continued education as an astrologer. I know I can get focused on the outer planet cycles, especially in this period when they are all moving into new signs, but I'm glad you're helping me learn to pay attention to the "faster" personal planets and their cycles, too. So, thanks for that.
I figured the few random folks who listen to my daily podcast might appreciate hearing your article, so I took the liberty of reading it near the start of the episode, with, of course, mention of a link to it in my show notes and a strong recommendation that people give your work a follow! Anyway, thanks for your continued work, and here's what I came up with (where you can learn about my favorite fragrant fall tree in Japan, which is the cover art!):

Adam, I’d love to be able to reflect more clearly on the cycles so I may start documenting my themes/desires/knowings/feelings each month.
Given the shifts and turns of the planets, I’m wondering if there is a best time to document? Each new moon? First/mid/last of the month? Daily might be a bit of a lift, though if recommended I can attempt it.
This post instantly got me thinking/reflecting - I had strangely similar and challenging Augusts these past 2 years…
