Glastonbury; taken from my imagination

Last weekend, I finally made it to Glastonbury. Not for the rage fest that is the music festival, but to catch the tail of the Megalithomania conference, and spend some time with friends there. Glastonbury is one of those places whose reputation proceeds it in confusing ways. Some say, “Oh, you’ve got to go. It’s the most magical place in England. Arthur is buried there!” Others may say, “It’s seedy, dark, and full of lost souls.” In my experience, it’s pinged back n’ forth between the two, so to finally visit and disperse all the hearsay from my mind was freeing. It’s a beautiful nook in the countryside with an Abby to rival any others in the land. I loved it.

One of the themes it conjured up was meditation around power. Often, we feel as if someone or someplace will give it to us. With places, as long as we get out of the ‘bad’ ones and make it to the ‘good’ ones, we just may save our souls. Places have power, as do we, and so do the planets, but this power is something to savor and not treat as a savior. The “i” is dangerous in that word. With astrology, we see it when we pray for brighter-day transits or wish we didn’t have a particular aspect in our charts. We forget to savor what we have, and where we are at. It seems we may be wired to expect something like a saving grace-an unconscious desire to put an “i” in savor.

Anyways, I was thinking this as I was trying to piece together the zodiac on the horizon. I needed a better guide for that. And so, this weekend will be our last with Jupiter in Aries-at least for 12 years. Mercury will also station direct early next week. Let’s savor it up. Lots of lessons I’m sure are still settling down to earth, eager to put down roots (Taurus).

I wrote this about it on Wednesday:

Terraforming

On April 20th, as millions gathered in parks to worship a female plant or watch an eclipse, a rocket called the Starship had its first test run. Depending on where you read the news, it was either a success or a complete failure. The goal of the mission is to get to Mars and begin the project of becoming an interplanetary species. SpaceX may ne…

Maze of Memory

Our memories are fading. We could blame the machines, what they are putting in the food, or the way in which our attention is so easily goaded into empty narratives, but blame is an odious tool. The lack of unifying stories has had an effect, and so too does the coerced subscription into the church of "progress," yet it's up to us to remember, not anybo…
