“…the love of Beauty is the light of the Good that grounds our pursuit of the True.”
-Plato’s claim
Now that we are through the Dragon Hole, it’s important to reflect on a few themes. As I always say, eclipses bring the plot twists. Whatever the narrative going into eclipse season is—both in our lives and in the greater world—the themes will twist and turn throughout the weeks when the dragon is close to the Sun. This time was no different.
Starting with the Lunar Eclipse (Pisces) on the 17th and ending last night with the Solar (Libra), we can point out that on the day of the Lunar, thus entering us into the Dragon Hole, Jerome Powell, the Fed Chairman, cut interest rates for the first time in 2 years, sending risk assets to the moon, but also greasing sentiment as we head into the US election in November. Even though it was expected, the twist was the 50 basis points, instead of 25. And then we have the Middle East…
One year ago, we all saw the horrific footage of Hamas parachuting into Israel to commit the atrocious attacks on civilians. This was also an eclipse season. October 7th was just 1 week away from the last Solar Eclipse in Libra. When it happened, looking at that eclipse, it was clear there would be no peace in the Middle East for the foreseeable future. And so here we are now, in the wake of the final eclipse of the year, and Israel is now in a multifront war with its neighbors; Iranian rockets are flying into the country as I write this. Another twist, yet still somewhat expected.
In my own life, last year on the day of the Libra eclipse, I had finally completed cleaning out my storage unit back in the States and handed in my key. I had condensed all that I own into one small pile of valuables. Yesterday, with the eclipse, I got word that the pile is no more; it went up in flames, alongside my dear friends tiny house that he was building. Another tragic twist.
With all these examples, we are reminded that we are not in control. Chaos reigns, yet there is a purpose to it all—even though it sometimes takes an entire life to see it. There is a reason Kings used to be replaced by surrogates during eclipses to soak up the chaos; there is a reason why so many people cover their food and water during eclipses; there is a reason why Jyotishis say that by doing your sadhana during an eclipse it strengthens the practice 108-fold. Eclipses aren’t to be feared, but they are to be respected. They hold a strange wisdom we all can learn from.
The Chandra symbol for the eclipse last night was:
11° Libra
“Tea leaves that form a pentagram”
…as students of astrology, we are warm to divination, yet we also can be naive about it’s effects. There are lovely elements that come with divination, and there are its shadows. It can keep some of us from the present. The future injects an anxiety that steals the contentment which is possible in the moment. But when the tea leaves form the Venus Star, no anxiety is warranted. They seem to be pointing directly at the Beautiful, the Good, and the True. In this, our minds should rest.
I think it’s also important to note that with both this eclipse and the one in 2023, Mercury was in the same part of its cycle: combust on the other side of the Sun. It represents the midpoint of his cycle. Both times in Libra, it seems our friendly magician is plotting something behind the scenes, and it has lots to do with beauty. I’m partial to the philosophy that the purpose of life is to create beauty. As Plato points out, it leads to the Good and True. To live our lives with this in our hearts will affect everyone we come into contact with. It will also leave the world a better place. Our life then becomes an offering back to the miraculous force that brought us here in the first place. We made it more beautiful leaving than it was when we came in.
Whether we are in WW3 or not, make beauty. Rate cuts are not enough to buy a home yet, make beauty. You just lost everything in a hurricane or a fire, make more beauty. The torrent that is our lives doesn’t ever slow down, it just speeds up, but one of the greatest ways of making time go away—just for a bit—is in making beauty. Whatever that means to you, internalize it, and make sure it happens.
It’s going to be a wild final month of Pluto in Capricorn and the pre-shadow starting up with Mars. What to do? How to navigate it? Make more beauty!

Adam, Sorry to hear about the dissolution of your personal belongings and their sudden exit from this material realm.
I know many millennials, especially those born around ’83-’84, are going through profound changes. Perhaps it’s a sign that we all need to release the past and make space for the unknown, for a new horizon.
2025 looks challenging for those still carrying unnecessary baggage.
I recently let go of all my entire storage unit—the things I’d kept from 27 years in NYC, including parts of my artwork. I decided to prioritize stacking sats over holding onto material possessions that no longer define me.
One thing is certain: as private citizens, we need less government and more sovereign individuals acting toward collaboration. Re: North Carolina …
I can already feel the shift of a new cycle. Whatever Powell does or doesn’t do, if private citizens don’t grasp the principles of economics, they will remain dependent on the fiat system. Low time preference supports long-term value, and that’s where the focus should be.
Be well
M
Oh Adam! So glad you got at least some quality time with them before they left this earthplane. Sending hugs
