"the devil moves in crowds, and God tends to move through us."
Darryl Cooper
One of the great issues of our moment is where we choose to place our trust when it comes to power. I imagine it’s always been this way, but there is something pressing about it, currently. Do we give it to the State, assuming our favored actor will be the one to hold it all together and progress the world towards some unknown destination or do we see that allocation of power could be misplaced? Perhaps we realize we need to take the power back, yet it’s mistakenly placed in the care of the ego instead of the soul. Dangerous business. Power is an elusive force and when it’s found outside of ourselves, moving through the group or State or church, we must always be extrasensory about it. It’s real, but really, how much power do we want to give up…?
Today, we get the final opposition between the two lords of Scorpio: Mars & Pluto (Leo/Aquarius). Their first face-off manifested in the US election (Nov 3rd); The second was on Jan. 3rd when those New Year resolutions still had momentum, alongside the tale of exploding Teslas just beginning. So here we are, for the third. The main question around transits with Mars/Pluto is pretty simple: How angry are we about things you cannot change? How you answer that question is the great reveal of whether these two are tugging at your ego or working on your soul.
Now, with this “nasty” transit concluding during the New Moon (Taurus; 7), there is a fruitful kind of darkness available to make some changes, or at least commit to making them, at some point. For myself, it’s a continued dedication to never be the first to bring up politics when mingling in the world, but when it does emerge, to remain curious, open to their translation of reality, and in my own Gemini fashion, keeping them guessing about where I’m at on their spectrum of judgement. Why? Because none of this is worth it. Why not have fun with it all? It’s beyond our scope of power. We only have power over our own choices. And we always have a choice of whether we enter the ring or not. It’s an unbelievably powerful and simple way to take some of the power back.
The Daryl Cooper quote I used to open this piece is my favorite kind. Read literally, you may disagree—or it could even rile up your Mars—because, of course, your group is “devil-free;” when read with a more poetic sensibility, it hits at something universally true and timeless about the masses. There is a madness to crowds that is unique to the madness we can experience inside our own heads. Ideas and emotions travel virally and can quickly lose control. Most Nazi’s for instance were normal people before Hitler’s rise, but because of group-think and the pressure from the State, they conformed to survive. It’s how cults function, by creating social leverage to instill fear about what would happen if you stepped out of line. It’s terrifying and quite alive still today. So we need to be suspicious of where true power lies. The State has a lot of it, but we still have our own power, which is derived in its purest form, straight from the soul’s tap. If we miss that, we miss everything, and we are powerless.
As I mentioned in my last piece talking about the Mars cycle and the square we just moved through, I do feel that we have entered a sweet spot for the year—an eye of a great storm—for now. This goldie-locks zone likely will begin to get squirrely again come June with the Saturn/Neptune squares to Jupiter, but even then, if we are acting on these opportunities we are given now, there is nothing to be afraid of. We will be stronger by then. We will be more connected to the ground state within by then. We will have dismantled all the triggers in us so that we can happily engage with the madness of the Left and the insanity of the Right. We are all somewhere on this moving spectrum, and the key is to always keep a beginner's mind without the radar constantly scanning our environment for threats from those who are different than us. And don’t pretend you don’t do it. We all do. It’s largely about how much power we have to adjust our reaction to the scan’s results. This is how we take the power back. Resist the urge. Resist the State. Resist the pride inside. Simply resist the temptations.
Mars/Pluto have everything to do with power. A suggestion for this lovely Sunday is to contemplate the power that you have and what power you freely give away without even knowing it. This New Moon also squares the tension between the two planets. The way Taurus helps us resolve the energy is spoken clearly through the Earth. Trees are the best teachers for how to embody it. They help to clear the bull-shit by keeping us rooted, symbiotic, and singing in the breeze. If any of those three ingredients are removed, the polarity sets in, which is decay (Scorpio). There is magic in the bulls shit though, it’ just waiting for the right conditions to grow. With all the suspicious movements all around us, do we actually have the power to wait for them? Can we see that we are actually the medicine, and this is where the true power lies? Time will tell, it always does...
Enjoy it!

Love it! Came across this similar quote the other day:
"In contemporary society, our Adversary majors in 3 things:
noise, hurry and crowds…The world screams at us - faster, louder, more. God calls to us - slower, softer, less." -Richard Foster
Thank you! Just the perspective I've been needing for a while.
