The weather has been extraordinary in Dartmoor as of late. These rare stretches of constant Sun transform the English—and I will admit, I now fully understand this metamorphosis. To celebrate, one of my favored activities, is to hop on my electric moped and get lost in the labyrinth of the moor. Yesterday, in the early stages of this ‘dark moon,’—just as Mercury finds his legs and we adjust to Jupiter’s presence also in Taurus—I found myself on a tor with a paraglider waiting for a draft.
I found an indiscreet spot amongst the granite to spy his flight. After a few failed attempts and the better part of an hour, the wind finally gave him (us) what we were waiting for. Quickly, he was about a 100 ft. off the tor, gently circling, and then, began his swift descent. I don’t think his chute failed completely, but something went wrong, and then back to earth with fabric and cord in chaotic tangles in a mess of gorse. A nightmare (don’t worry, he survived without injury).
On my cruise back, I couldn’t shake the scene, as it felt like the perfect metaphor for my life—and seemingly lots of us in the world right now. I’ve got writer’s block; I feel stagnant; and the best I can do is simply continue to enjoy the Sun and works of fiction. Currently, I’m deeply engrossed in JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR NORRELL by Susanna Clarke. It helps. Strange magic in there.
Anyways, can you relate? Are you trying to take off, yet the arms of gravity are pulling you straight back to Earth? Are you catching my drift?
I do have a new podcast ready to share with you. It was a lovely conversation with Jules Cashford about Eleusis and the new movie she just created about the mysteries.
There are also a few classes in the works as well.
And yes, the Wooden Book is still seeing the chisel and sandpaper.
Below, you shall discover a few things you didn’t know you needed in your life (hopefully).
Thanks for opening.

Solid Ground? (a newsy-letter)
Yay for writers block! Something fertile is happening deep within x
Yes, I totally relate. And the sunshine does help. My version of frustration with the situation is to plant lots of things because I have to - because I bought too many and it's been hot so they can't stay out of the ground. In other words, I buy too many plants to avoid all the kinds of things that are frustrating me in the other parts of my life. 🤷🏻♀️
