It takes but one second upon looking at a mycelial network to leap into connections to the central nervous systems/brain, computer networks, and—of course—the universe. It’s important to remember fungi breathe oxygen, just like us, but instead of putting food into themselves to digest, they digest the world as they explore it. With their hyphae (radial tips of the mycelium) a fungus solves puzzles at a scale impossible to comprehend. And once they have colonized their food source (substrate) the hyphae begin to tangle, form knots, then—with many of the species we know and love—form primordia (pins) which then turn into mushrooms.
When we think of fungi, it’s mushrooms we usually think about first, yet they are only the last phase of the organisms’ life cycle. Once it fruits and spores are released, it quickly falls back to Earth. Recently, I finally found the time to dig into Merlin Sheldrake’s ENTANGLED LIFE, and my love for the fungal kingdom has exponentially deepened. It’s been a surprising gift for this Venus Rx. Many connections are being made.
As an example, if we were to treat Venus near maximum brightness at the end of her cycle as the fruiting stage of the cycle, she is also releasing spores at this juncture (where we have been for the past month or so). All we have learned in the previous cycle (or cycles) turns into a dispersal of our heart’s spores for all our futures mutually beneficial connections (symbiosis) waiting to happen. When she falls from the evening and heads for the Sun (like today’s cazimi) the spores begin to germinate—haploids are formed; that is, new connections, desires, and a novel life impulse emanates from the star-point. As a morning star, she helps us explore the world by expanding our hyphal arms, digesting our experience in interesting ways, continually making fresh connections, and building onto our base. When moving from the morning to the evening and traveling on the other side of the sun our network is tested. Loss is common; whether to an important symbiont or food source/environment, we will feel a longing because of the impermanence. And finally, when back in the evening star, those hyphal knots begin to form again, and when we find ourselves close once more to another star point, the next primordia will form.
Fungal analogies are fun. I’ve never tried it with a Venus synodic cycle. But the more I learn about them, the more I can’t help myself. They are also a perfect model for decentralization—hence, lots of bitcoiners love the metaphor. There is no central point of failure. We must treat our lives and all those we love in a similar manner. What that looks like is different for all of us, yet it will likely include a community of some kind. Thank you for being a part of mine!
Anyways, happy cazimi to you all. 20º Leo! A reminder that we cannot do this alone. Find it in your chart. Contemplate this deeply.
Below, you will find many nodes in the network I have built as of late. Enjoy
