Digging Up Light
...On the Venus Cazimi & all this Gemini
Venus is cazimi today. Missing from the visible sky, she has been playing out that ancient story of the Goddess revisiting the underneath to reclaim what is hers. It’s a time of longing, filled with profound considerations about what we are connected to.
To understand it best, we must think back to August of last year to the previous cazimi when she was retrograde in Leo. This was the inception of the cycle. With Maui on fire and Oliver Anthony going viral, we all were kissed by the bright lady and another cycle began. Now, we are at the midpoint. Oh, how much has changed!?
Alongside this pivotal moment of her cycle, we see both Jupiter and Mercury in Gemini now—like starlings swarming at dusk, forming pictures for us to decipher—opening all the books to assist us in our understanding. Both Mercury and Jupiter are still at the beginning of their cycles, and we are just getting acquainted. Mercury as Hermes as Thoth, we must never forget the syncretic wisdom of this god; in the form of Thoth, depicted with an Ibis head fashioned onto his shoulders, it reminds us to stick our faces into the mud in search of nourishment. And with Venus gone, sometimes all we can dig up is a bit of hidden knowledge we had slushing around in our unconscious. It’s not always about connecting with anything on the outside; sometimes it’s all about making that connection with something buried within ourselves. We can’t be afraid to get our faces right in there.
All in all, it feels to be an interesting setup in the skies as we head into the Solstice. For myself, so much of my nourishment is coming from doing these Mercury Journeys with folks. It’s truly unbelievable what comes up when you track this feathered whipper-snapper around the chart. It’s become my favorite offering. The big idea that claimed me this round is an intermingled one between Templar history and mainland Portugal. As I write these final sentences, I look out my window at the castles on the top of those Mountains of the Moon and I feel blessed. Blessed by Mercury, blessed by the Wyrd, and blessed that there are those of you out there who enjoy these strange musings in the Dragon Hole.
