The image generated for this piece was going to be associated with something I was trying to write on the 5th, but I’ve been dragged down by this FlIrt variant—or perhaps what some are calling the 100-day cough—and I just scared the muse away by coughing up a storm. I took the day off. But it’s still relevant, and I will make a case for why.
As you may be aware, all the visible planets are now visible. We were just waiting for Venus to join the pantheon, and now she is finally coming into view in the West. Often, when Venus is gone, we can lose connection to what truly matters in our lives. Take the past few weeks as an example, in the wake of the debate, and just how tiresome it has become to continually get roped into conversations about whether Old Joe is gone or whether the Red King is a megalomaniac or some Q-savior. Is this really what we are connected to or is it what they want us to be connected to? Do we really value this story? It’s history in the making, sure, but is it really worth our time? These are Venusian questions we always need to be asking ourselves. And again, when she’s feeling around in the dark, on the other side of the Sun, it’s much easier to lose contact with what really matters.
Now that she’s back though, something is maturing. It’s how it always plays out. It has since the beginning of Venus’ dance in the heavens. When Venus is an evening star, we come to beautiful realizations of how we want to spend our time, energy, and our monies. We always jump to love when Venus is on the mind, but the heart of the matter is much deeper. She reveals the connective tissue between us and all our relations—not just humans.
And tomorrow, she will join Mercury in Leo to decorate the post-sunset skies, with a lovely crescent moon looming over them. Venus will also trine Neptune in the final degree (anaretic) of Cancer just before the ingress; on Friday she will oppose Pluto after it (Leo/Aquarius). Helpful transits concerning the numerous collective mass formation psychosis frequencies that we are either ducking and dodging or fully tuned into. When it comes to Pluto and Neptune, we can never forget that they are locked into a sextile, and they have been since we were born, and it’s not changing any time soon. This aspect isn’t talked about enough, yet it’s at the core of our human experience throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. To me, the essence of their influence points to the illusion of progress, and the dreamspell of separation we are lost in. In other words, this feeling we all seem to have of moving forward to the next turn of the wheel of our evolution is just an idea, not a reality. It’s just a story.
So when you have the Lady of the Early Evening Light aligning with the two of them as we descend the hump of this week into her day (Friday), we are given a chance to realign priorities around these big ideas. It will reflect in the conversations we are having during our future sunsets. It will be felt in our bodies as we throw off some of the baggage that was never ours anyway. It will be a clarity in the heart because we have made room in there.
It’s no secret that this year is the biggest when it comes to elections—not just in the US. There are more elections in 2024 than at any other time in human history (64 countries holding national elections; over 2 billion voting). Translation: it predicts drama. It also means more people getting sucked into the soap opera. Is this really how we want to spend our time? Venus helps us to remember that gorgeous line from the Serenity Prayer that can help cure our inner news junkie:
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Give yourself all the excuses to get out there under the night sky. They are all visible. They all have something to say. And it’s the complete opposite place they want our attention to be. It’s an act of rebellion to experience the living sky. It is the ancient newsfeed. Remember: All is now visible—up there, in here, and out there in the world. The emperor has no clothes, nor words to say that make any sense. May we try to remember this.

Thanks for the observation about this year having the most elections. As toxic as some of the drama is around them, it gives me hope that we are still moving in the direction of democracy in the long view
I feel it already - the opening of eyes. Not just mine but others too. People waking up to realities they couldn't see before, then making plans, taking steps, changing directions... its happening.
